Patrons requiring a wheelchair position, aisle seat or special assistance, should always book in advance to ensure that an appropriate seat is available.
Access in and around Her Majesty’s Theatre
There is a drop-off area close to the front doors of the Theatre (towards Lonsdale St). The footpath in front of the Theatre is under cover
There is NO LIFT at HMT. Theatre patrons with limited mobility wishing to book seats are advised that the Stalls is the most accessible level.
The Stalls section is on the lower level of the auditorium, immediately in front of the Stage. There are no steps in the Stalls if enter via Door 3. The floor is on a gradual incline so that each row is higher than the row in front. Patrons with difficulty using stairs are advised to book seats in the Stalls.
The Dress Circle is the middle level of the auditorium. The seating in the Dress Circle is stepped so that each row is raised one or more steps above the row in front. For patrons sitting in the Dress Circle, there is a wide staircase of 26 steps with a gentle gradient to reach Door 4 (front half of the Dress Circle) and another 10 steps to reach Door 5 (back half of the Dress Circle).
The Grand Circle is the top level of the auditorium. The seating in the Grand Circle is stepped so that each row is raised one or more steps above the row in front. For patrons sitting in the Grand Circle, there are a total of 58 steps from the street entrance to the Grand Circle (Door 6).
Passenger Drop Off
There is a 5 minute drop off area in front of the main entrance to the Theatre in Exhibition Street. The footpath in front of the Theatre is all under cover.
Disabled Parking
There are disabled parking bays on the street in the following locations.
- 168 Exhibition St (between Little Bourke and Bourke Streets, heading south, approx. 75 metres from HMT). There are two bays with a two hour time limit.
- Little Bourke St (just off Spring St, heading west, beside the Princess Theatre, one block from HMT). There are two bays with a three hour time limit to 7:30pm then unrestricted.
- 131 Lonsdale St (between Exhibition and Russell Streets, heading west, one block from HMT). There is one bay with a two hour time limit.
- Spring St (just north of the Lonsdale St intersection, heading north, outside the Casselden Place Government Offices, a little more than one block from HMT). There are two bays wth a two hour time limit.
Hearing Assistance System
Her Majesty’s Theatre use a smartphone app called Listen EVERYWHERE. This free app can be downloaded to a compatible smartphone device in advance. The venue can also provide devices with the app installed for patrons use (earphones also provided). Patrons will need to provide a form of ID (Driver Licence, Learner Permit, Student ID, Proof of Age Card) to sign out a device.
Disabled Toilet
There is one Disabled Toilet located in the Vestibule off the Stalls Foyer near the Male Restrooms.
